Bluff Shoal Motel

Traveling to NCCAT and needed a safe space for one night. This is the quaintest, and sweetest place I have ever stayed. So many updates and comfiest bed! Coffee on the deck overlooking the water was just a perfect addition! The website accurately depicts the motel. I’d love to stay again when I travel back to Ocracoke, NC!

This was my first time out to the island just exploring for future reference. I found this place through Airbnb and the rates were reasonable for preseason. It's a cute older place with 7 rooms, and 7 parking spots in front of each room. I arrived after sunset and there was a little light on their sign out front so I knew I was in the correct place, but there were no porch lights working at all and brick steps up to the rooms. Thankfully I didn't have to fumble with keys since the room door was unlocked and the light switch just inside the door. The room and bathroom were clean and simple, but no amenities other than a coffee maker & cups, mini fridge and TV. Take all your own supplies. The bathroom was stocked with towels, TP and tissues. Do not expect luxury accommodations. The hosts did communicate quickly and offered suggestions in response to questions. For one night solo, this accommodation was perfectly adequate. Great place to stay. First time staying here but not first time to ocracoke. Was able to tie up my 24ft boat at the dock which was excellent. Sissy was extremely accommodating and friendly. Basic older place but clean and comfortable.

Such a hidden gem! The team here is great! This place is our new favorite spot to stay at on the island! Highly recommend! The views are amazing right from your back door and it’s in the middle of everything you need! We really enjoyed walking around and exploring! The rooms are nice and clean & each room has its own parking spot which is very nice. They have AC units in each room along with a small microwave & mini fridge all work very well along with TV & wifi. The beds are very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower is great!

The Bluff Shoal was perfect. Our large group occupied almost all of the rooms so we got to see the interior of several rooms. They are up to date with a vintage, coastal charm and very clean. They must have been recently remodeled. Our room had front and back porches. The back yard and deck at the water is a great place to hang out any time with plenty and of seating. Great view of Silver Lake. Location is perfect for walking or biking around town. Parking right in front of the room was a plus. Easy, contactless check in and out.

This is the coolest motel you will ever stay at. First of all, the host, Sissy, is a national treasure. She was so pleasant and helpful and honestly I just wish I had found this place directly instead of through one of the big travel sites! Pro tip: call bluff Shoals directly! Do not schedule through Expedia or any of those garbage sites. They screw up the bookings, take a huge cute of a small businesses money, and don't add anything. The view from the community area around back may be the real star of the show here. One of the most beautiful sunset and sunrise areas. Also, you can clearly see the Milky Way through the summer months above your head, even with the islands lights. Can't recommend more. 11/10. Will DEFINITELY be back.

We book here every single time we visit ocracoke, love it, love the porch. the back yard with an amazing view and seating area, and the location! I read a couple reviews before mine and it is unbelievable that the reasons these folks gave for less than 5 stars are the exact reasons we love staying here. The notes in the office that rooms are open and waiting for us is true to the quaint small island feel that it is intended for. If you boogie folks don’t enjoy watching the golf carts go by on the main strip, don’t book here, it’s not the motels fault This is ocracoke people - This spot is our favorite place to stay! Thank you for your hospitality and the island life feel!

We loved our stay at Bluff Shoal Motel. It’s very cozy & conveniently located to shops & restaurants. The room was very clean & spacious. My favorite part was the deck just out our back door & just across the yard a dock with chairs. We enjoyed relaxing on the dock watching the boats & birds. Would definitely recommend staying here.
